Shezhire (kaz.) is a genealogical family tree of the Kazakhs and other Turkish nations, such as the Tatars and Bashkirs. Usually it is a written or verbal recall of ancestors by direct male line.
A widespread synonymous of Shezhire is ZHETIATA (translated from the Kazakh as Seven Grandfathers). It is supposed that knowledge of shezhire (or their ancestors to the seventh generation) is requirement for every Kazakh.
